Rabbinical Congress for Peace reminds Obama of G-d's promise

The Rabbinical Congress for Peace (RCP) comprised of over 350 leading rabbis in Israel and 850 abroad has sent a message through a personal contact to President-elect Barack Obama congratulating him on his election and at the same time reminded him of his prayer at the Western Wall and the biblical promise of Jewish sovereignty in the entire Land of Israel.

The RCP wrote that "we appreciate the fact that on your last visit to Israel you prayed to G-d at the Western Wall in Jerusalem, the holiest Jewish site, and according to media the following was the text of your prayer: "Lord-Protect my family and me. Forgive me my sins, and help me guard against pride and despair. Give me the wisdom to do what is right and just. And make me an instrument of your will."

"Consistent with your focus on the will of G-d we trust that you are aware of the will of G-d when it comes to Jewish sovereignty in the entire Land of Israel. We therefore trust that you will accord the will of G-d concerning all of Israel the same divine importance as you do with regard to other areas of the will of G-d.

"The last 15 years have proven without a shadow of a doubt that the "land for peace" formula, besides being a formula that goes against the Divine will, is ineffective, obsolete, and an exercise in futility. Most of all it is a dangerous policy that only leads to bloodshed and instability in the region.

"Its proponents turn a blind eye to the inescapable reality that to this day the Palestinians are cynically trampling on every promise they has ever made. Instead, they blandish with unfounded fantasies of peace.

"As rabbis, we love peace and pray for peace. Moreover, we are obligated, by teaching our holy Torah, to guide our people to strive for peace – but a peace that is true and lasting. As most residents of Israel have personally witnessed, the ceding of territory inevitably invites increased terrorist activity. Silence on our part, in a question of life or death, would therefore be sinful and irresponsible.

"The ruling of Jewish law which is summarized in the enclosed document forbidding the surrender of any part of our Holy Land to Israel’s neighbors is based on the principle of Pikuach Nefesh, the obligation to safeguard lives that are in jeopardy. This ruling was issued by the majority of the most prominent rabbis in Israel and abroad, among them former justices of Israel's Supreme Rabbinical Court.

"This ruling is anchored in G-d's eternal Torah, whose ethical standards underlie Western civilization. We are therefore confident that you, Mr. President-elect, who prayed to be an instrument of G-d and G-d accepted your prayer, will now do everything in your power to implement the will of G-d that the Promised Land that He expressly allocated to the Jewish People will remain under Jewish sovereignty.

The letter was signed by Rabbi Joseph Gerlitzky, Chairman of the RCP and Rabbi Avrohom Shmuel Lewin, Director.

Global Warming and Redemption

World Cooperation
The threat of global climate change has become increasingly accepted by people around the world. It has become clear that human activity is exacerbating the risk: Cars, airplanes, factories and power stations are all potent sources of gas emissions which create a heat-trapping layer around the globe, heating up the planet.

Along with better understanding of the problem has come a growing literature devoted to finding solutions. Scientists from diverse fields such as meteorology, astronomy, chemical and physical engineering are working together on the problem. For now, the solutions are focused on new technological advances that will be environmentally friendly, as well as social change to reduce consumption of oil and natural gas. Sources of energy that are being explored include solar, wind and water power, as well as geothermal energy, which harnesses heat from deep inside the earth. Cars and trucks are now being built according to more stringent specifications for mileage per gallon as well as limits on carbon emissions.

International sanctions have been imposed on countries that are not doing their part. There still is no magic wand that will solve all the environmental and energy problems in one blow. However, we see how people around the world are uniting in the face of a common threat. We realize that global climate change affects all of us; this is an apolitical issue that crosses international boundaries, and we need to work together to find a solution.daytona there still is no magic want that will solve all the environmental and energy problems in one blow.l as limits on carbon

It seems this unification of the global population is unprecedented in history. For generations, emperors sunk their resources and energy into waging war with one another, spreading destruction and disease in the process. Today, nations are investing energy in precisely the opposite purpose: the benefit of mankind as well as the planet as a whole, including plant and animal life.

Over 16 years ago, the Lubavitcher Rebbe King Moshiach (Messiah) spoke about the phenomenon of world leaders gathering together to agree upon mutual reduction of arms and conversion of military equipment to peaceful uses. Since that time, the phenomenon as only expanded. As the Rebbe said, this is a result of the process of Redemption which we are now experiencing.

We are entering into a new era, in which all people of the world will recognize their common origin and joint responsibility to serve as stewards of the planet. Together we will harness our insights and creativity to ensure that the world we live in is a safe, clean place for all its inhabitants.

Danger - Trojan Horse

Sos-Israel.com
The following Op-Ed is a free translation of an article written by Rabbi Sholom Dov Volpo.

With all due respect to the "greatest army in the Middle East", we have been suffering great defeat on all fronts- military and political. There isn't a day when the security situation doesn't worsen, to the point of danger to our very survival as a nation in the Holy Land, may G-d protect us.

The army had no solution to the barrages of missiles from Lebanon and Gaza. The Hizbullah rained thousands of missiles on us during the second Lebanon war, the Chamas has shot hundreds of Kassam missiles since the expulsion from Gush Katif, and our extolled army stood, and stands still, absolutely helpless....

The PM and the Defense Minister are responsible for the Hezbollah becoming stronger. Ehud Barak left them secret army equipment, and fled with his soldiers under the cover of night. He and his successors ignored the Hezbollah's development, and caused the war and its' results. Since then, the terrorists in the north have turned into monsters that grow without being stopped. Same situation in the South. The expulsion brought the Chamas to rule, weapons and missiles flow freely, with no one stopping them, and zero Israeli reaction.

These traitors haven't stopped there, but are talking about further concessions that will give the Chamas total reign in Yehuda and Shomron, and make the Syrians and Iranians into a very real threat to our eastern border.

The new Commander in Chief has turned into a poodle as well. He doesn't take a single step to curb the terrorists from becoming more powerful, and doesn't raise his voice in protest of the talk about further territory cessions and uprooting of settlements.

When future historians will analyze the collapse of the Israeli state, they will come to a simple and clear conclusion: the beginning of the end was due to the great success of the terror organizations to plant their people in key government positions. The President, the Defense Minister, the police, the media and more all work for them. Ministers and Knesset members are on their side, as well.

Let's do some simple math: close to two thousand people were killed since the Oslo Accords! How many funerals did the PM and the Defense Minister attend? How much time did the media allow for each funeral? How many MP's from the different parties came to pay condolences? But.. the funerals of soldiers Goldwasser and Regev, may Hashem avenge their blood, turned into media festivals that were on the air for the longest time. The heads of state starred at the funerals with tear jerking speeches, and hugs with crocodile tears, brought to you by the greatest spin and PR experts around.

Where are they when Sderot and Western Negev citizens are killed?? When did they last visit those injured in the terrorist attacks?? Since when are they so sympathetic to widows and grieving parents?? It is clear as day: the whole show was put on to justify their anti-security act of releasing an arch-terrorist, may his name be erased, who is planning the next murderous attack with his friends- and the next prisoner release.

Don't worry. If we'll G-d forbid, see the next terror attack as a result , the PM and Defense Minister won't have a problem. They won't have to look those mothers and widows in the eyes, simply because those poor souls can't make eye contact with those "high and mighty" ones. They have no lobby in the Knesset, they don't interest the media. They are just "victims of peace".

I once wrote to Moshe Katzav, a few days before he was to sign the release of 400 terrorists: "You surely are aware of the surveys that show that 80% of the released terrorists return to their terror activities. If so, could you fantasize, for one moment before you sign, that this terrorist will, G-d forbid, kill one of your family members?' He replied that I was "uncouth".

And now, once again, Shimon Peres signed the release of Samir Kuntar, thereby aiding and abetting the terror organizations. In any normal country he would find himself under lock and key for the rest of his life for his role in the Oslo crimes. In our decadent state- he continues to serve as president and serve our enemies.

In any normal country, the MK's operate according to security considerations and their consciences. Here they go as a herd of sheep led by the radio and TV announcers. Charedi MK's who announced that they wouldn't allow terrorists with bloody hands to be released, are speechless in the presence of the media whom they try to impress.
***
Three weeks ago we were shocked by the bulldozer terror attack in Yerushalayim. While the bodies were still on the ground and the wounded were being rushed to the hospital, the Chief of Police announced that within a half hour life will be back to usual on Yaffo Street. In simple words, the police's job is not to protect its' citizens, but imprint in their minds that murderous terror is a part of the ideal daily life in Israel. That is why the police and the courts allow Arabs to harass and plot against Jews, but jail settlers that try to protect themselves. That is because in this state of Yishmael of ours, the Arabs are the lords and the settlers are the minority people.

The dangers that we face are not from the enemies that surround us, rather from the "fifth column" that the enemy succeeded to plant in the political, judicial and communications hierarchy. The situation continues to go downhill. Therefore, from this Israeli state, that has been overtaken from the inside, we will not see salvation.

We are left with three options in this "inner exile": a: to oppose the Trojan horses fighting us from within, with all our might; b: fight with self sacrifice so that the virulent bacteria cannot reach its' goal; c: to beg, three times a day, from the depth of our hearts, for the true and immediate redemption: "Es tzemach Dovid avdecho m'heiro tatzmieach", may it be now!

Its not the fault of the IDF. Its all due to the leftist Govt of Olmert, Barak, and Livni. They set policy and they tie the hands of the army. I had hoped that we would be rid of Olmert long ago but the leftist AG Mazuz keeps stalling and stalling.

5. Re: The IDF

The leadership of the IDF is responsible. I work in the US defense industry. There are articles every day in the defense magazines that hold the US General Staff responsible the failures in Afghanistan, Iraq and the General war on Terror.

Why? Because it is the responsibility of the general staff to advice & inform the civilian staff of what the miliary can do, what it can't, and what violates 200+ years of military common sense. And if what if the political leadership violates this, then it is there responsibility to their troops to refuse orders that put the soldiers in their command at risk.

The IDF has time and time again treated the rank and file IDF soldiers as expendable sacrifices, not for military reasons, but for political goals. The Rebbe has commented that the responsibility of the military is to make decisions purely for military reason, and not to endanger Jewish blood for political reasons.

Yes, the IDF must also take responsibility (as we all must, and the three weeks is a good time for a cheshbon hanefesh).

Immediate Payback

Immediate Payback
By Menachem Ziegelboim

People stood shaken and fearful as they silently watched the soldiers turn the house upside down in their search. None of them dared tell them what the Rebbe said... * The following story is publicized for the first time (in English), as heard from the protagonist, Rabbi Yaakov Landau, zt’l, rav of Bnei Brak, a close Chassid of the Rebbe Rashab (see bio in issues 278-279 of Beis Moshiach).

5678 (1918). Civil war raged between the Reds and the Whites in Russia. After a few months of bitter street fighting, the Reds finally took the upper hand. That is when the Communists began forcibly ruling over the millions of Russian citizens.

In order to firmly establish their position, the Communists compiled a long list of rules to regulate the lives of the citizens. They couldn’t congregate in the evening, and even during the daytime no more than a few people were allowed to gather, lest they attempt to conspire against the government.

Beginning in 5679 (1919), the government cracked down harder and harder. They established laws limiting the activities and authority of religious institutions. They began to dog the footsteps of rabbanim and often conducted searches in their homes for possible proof of rebellion.

One day they came to the home of the Rebbe Rashab in Rostov. A group of soldiers armed with rifles broke into the Rebbe’s home to search for anti-revolutionary material. The members of the household were ordered not to move from their places. The sight of the armed soldiers was terribly frightening, and the Rebbe remarked to those standing around him that it would only be right if the soldiers at least removed the bayonets from their rifles.

Those who had come to the house stood in terror, watching silently as the soldiers turned the house over in their search. None of them dared repeat to the soldiers what the Rebbe said. Another moment went by, and then Rabbi Yaakov Landau, the young rabbi who was a household member in the Rebbe’s home, courageously spoke to the commanding officer and asked him to consider the Rebbe’s honor and remove the bayonets.

The officer could have easily ordered that the young man be beaten for his nerve, yet amazingly, the officer told his soldiers to respect the Rebbe’s wishes.

But the search was not over. The soldiers continued looking, and one of them found a box of tobacco the Rebbe used on Pesach. The soldier wanted the box and put it in his pocket. The Rebbe observed the theft and moaned, telling those around him that the box was precious to him, and that he was willing to redeem the Pesach snuff box, which was made of tin, for a different one made of silver.

The household members standing around thought it wasn’t an auspicious time to get into an argument with soldiers over something so insignificant. Again it was Rabbi Yaakov Landau who put his life on the line, and as a loyal Chassid he acceded to the Rebberequest. He turned to the officer again and asked him to tell the soldier to return the box.

Again those present were certain that the officer, a wicked man whose hatred for the Jews burned in his eyes, would order Rabbi Landau’s arrest, but incredibly, he turned to the soldiers, red-faced with anger, and said that whoever stole the box had to remove it from his pocket at once and put it on the table, otherwise he would be sorry. Within seconds one of the soldiers grudgingly removed the box from his pocket and placed it on the table.

The Rebbe looked pleased until he noticed that the box cover had been opened. His face was downcast again and he said that since the box had been opened he didn’t need it anymore, since the soldier might possibly have had a drop of chametz in his pocket.

Dovid HaMelech said, "V’ata m’shaleim l’ish k’maaseihu" (You recompense a man according to his deeds). As the soldiers left the house, a bullet from one of the soldier’s rifles accidentally shot the soldier who had stolen the box, and killed him on the spot!

This difficult episode left its mark on the Rebbe Rashab, who said that he could not continue to live with the Communists. Shortly thereafter, on Beis Nissan 5680 (1920), the Rebbe Rashab was nistalek.

And specifically in these days,--the days of Moshiach that we are in now, and we only have to open the eyes and then we see that the true and complete Redemption is here in actuality.”

“All of these fasts in the future will be nullified to Yemos HaMoshiach…especially the Fast of Esther.

- The Rebbe Melech HaMoshiach, Sefer Hisvadius, Vol. 2, p. 1027

“Especially the Fast of Esther”

Dear Friends:

Purim Sameach!

For thousands of years we have been observing the Jewish holiday of Purim with the utmost joy. The miracle of Purim was a true Geula. The great leader of the generation, Mordechai haYehudi,--Mordechai the Jew, who would not bend the knee or bow down to anyone other than Hashem, ignited this same level in everyone of the generation. Men, women and children displayed a supernatural strength in the face of annihilation and were able to vanquish their enemies.

What is the difference between Purim now, and Purim in the past? Always, we remember the self sacrifice of Queen Esther and how she fasted for three days before risking her life to appear before the King in order to save her people. We commemorated her courage by fasting the day before Purim.

However, the Rebbe Melech HaMoshiach tells us a most astounding and wondrous thing in the time of the Geula, Yemos HaMoshiach, in which we are now. The Rebbe Melech HaMoshiach says that according to Rambam, all fasts in Yemos HaMoshiach will be nullified (as per the first stage of Yemos HaMoshiach[1]), and will turn over into days of “sasson v’simcha” (in the second, supernatural phase[2]). In Sefer Hisvadius 5743, Vol 2, P. 1027,

“And specifically in these days,--the days of Moshiach that we are in now…”

the Rebbe Melech HaMoshiach emphasizes that nullifying the fasts is particularly important when it comes to the fast of Esther:

And so too the purpose and completion of all fasts it to turn them over to holidays and days of joy and gladness (as the Rambam said in the end of the Laws of Fasts) that “All of these fasts in the future will be nullified to Yemos HaMoshiach. And not just that, but they are in the future to be holidays and days of joy etc. This is emphasized especially in the “Fast of Esther” for it is through her hand that it was affected the aspect of “vena hapach hu,” that it was turned over.

And again in Toras Menachem 1991, p. 288, the Rebbe Melech HaMoshiach, in discussing the nullification of fasts in Yemos HaMoshiach, places special emphasis on nullifying the fast of Esther, as we see below:

And it shall be His will that there should be no more need of fasting and thereby there will be no need in redeeming the fast because the undesirable elements that cause the fast will be nullified. As in the Psak Din of the Rambam, all of the fasts are in the future to be nullified to Yemos HaMoshiach, including and especially the fast of Esther (on erev Purim) that is connected to Purim and to Pesach, for the fast at the time of Esther the first time was on Pesach for both (Purim and Pesach) are tied with the Redemption. As our sages say, “From Redemption to Redemption.”

This Is the Time

After the Redemption of Purim, we were still slaves to Achashveros. And our suffering at the hands of the nations continued for thousands of years. All through this time the Jewish nation has remained whole, sticking to the Torah and its commandments, to fix and transform the world and bring the Redemption. Now, in our time, the Rebbe Melech HaMoshiach says the work of exile has been completed. Therefore we will never again go through this kind of suffering.[3] We will never again experience another Inquisition, another pogrom, another Holocaust. Now the Jews are free to keep the Torah and its commandments. Shouldn’t we acknowledge this time with joy and gratitude? The Shulchan Aruch does.

“And specifically in these days,--the days of Moshiach that we are in now…”

The Shulchan Aruch recognizes that there will be a time when certain prohibitions of the time of exile will be removed. This time the Shulchan Aruch refers to as “AZ…” (THEN…as per Psalm 126, “Then our mouths will be filled with laughter…in other words, the time of the Redemption).

The Rebbe Melech HaMoshiach says that AZ is NOW. The following is the way the prohibition against joy in the exile appears in the Shulchan Aruch:

Laws of Remembrance of the Destruction of the Holy Temple

We are permitted to gladden the bride and the groom with our mouths and instruments, however we should not rejoice too much. And it is forbidden to a person to fill his mouth with laughter in this world (Exile) even in the joy of a mitzvah. As it is said, “Then (AZ – only at the time of the Geula) our mouths will be filled with laughter.”

Here is the way the Rebbe Melech HaMoshiach tells us that this is the time:

And this that it is forbidden to fill our mouths with laughter in this world (Exile), what are these words saying when we are talking about a moment before the revelation of our righteous Moshiach? But in our subject matter, since the leader of our generation was the Moshiach of our generation and he has been revealed with all the might, not only have we been granted permission but even more so, there is an obligation to conduct ourselves in a manner of filling our mouths with laughter and our tongues with joy.

The Shulchan Aruch Says the Fasts Will End

The Shulchan Aruch makes it clear that the laws of the fasts are not meant forever but only for the time of the exile. As it says in the Shulchan Aruch at the end of the laws of fasts:

In the future (the Redemption), Hashem will turn them over into days of joy and gladness.

However, the Rebbe Melech HaMoshiach tells us that the Shulchan Aruch does not deal with the laws of Yemos HaMoshiach and that for this, we have to go to the Rambam.

“And specifically in these days,--the days of Moshiach that we are in now…”

Rambam’s Psak Din L’Halacha for Yemos HaMoshiach

In the era of the Redemption, the Rebbe Melech HaMoshiach tells us that it is the Psak Din of the Rambam that goes into effect. This Psak Din declares that immediately upon the advent of Yemos HaMoshiach, the fasts are nullified.

This is in the halachic category of Dinim Mi L’Chatchila, as the Rebbe Melech HaMoshiach explains:[4]

And moreover since “…all the words of the Torah we are commanded to do forever” (Rambam, Hilchos Yesodos HaTorah 289) – therefore it was necessary to say that

these fasts, their law is from the beginning (from their inception) (Dinam Milichatchila) that in the future they are to be nullified to Yemos HaMoshiach.

Two Stages

Two stages in the Redemption are implied by the way the Rambam words the halacha about nullifying the fasts:

All of these fasts in the future are to be nullified to Yemos HaMoshiach and not just that, but in the future they will be holidays and days of joy and gladness.[5]

First the fasts are nullified, then they turn over to days of joy and gladness.

The Rebbe Melech HaMoshiach, based on the Rambam, goes into more detail about the two stages of the Redemption.[6] In the first stage there is no difference between exile and Redemption except that there is no more subjugation to the nations. It is a time when the world continues to be ruled by the natural order of things. The only change is that governments no longer persecute the Jewish people and punish them for keeping Torah and mitzvoth.

“And specifically in these days,--the days of Moshiach that we are in now…”

The second era embraces the supernatural wonders such as revival of the dead and the Third Beis Hamikdosh coming down from the sky.

It is in the first stage (the onset of the Redemption) that the fasts are nullified, and only in the second stage do they turn over into an amazing joy.

After nullifying the fasts, the Rebbe Melech HaMoshiach tells us that then they turn over to days of sasson v’simcha.[7] By listening to the Rebbe and nullifying the fasts, we bring the days of sasson v’simcha closer.

This brings us to a very important point that the Rebbe Melech HaMoshiach has said many different times and many different ways.

We Are Partners in the Redemption.

In the shocking sicha of 28 Nissan 5751, the Rebbe Melech HaMoshiach gave over the work of revealing the Redemption to us. Two months later, on the 28th of Sivan, the Rebbe Melech HaMoshiach made it perfectly clear what he wanted from us:

A Jew with his body and soul simply becomes a partner to Hashem in a manner of unification in all of Hashem’s aspects, including and especially in bringing the true and complete redemption. In order for Hashem to accomplish this in its entirety He needs (so to speak) the participation of every single Jew, specifically as a soul within a body. It is through our deeds and work that the redemption comes, and it is needed, so to speak, that

a Jew should agree and want and even more so, that he should desire and proclaim,--not just that the time of the redemption has arrived, but that the redemption is actually here.

Our partnership is to say that the Redemption is here in actuality (b’pashtus).

“And specifically in these days,--the days of Moshiach that we are in now…”

Feasting Instead of Fasting

Just as Queen Esther had bittul to Mordechai, and through following his instructions ended up saving the Jewish people, so we can emulate her. We don’t have to risk our lives. By feasting and not fasting, we show that we

really believe the words of the Rebbe Melech HaMoshiach that we are in the Redemption. And this will accelerate the revelation of the wonders and miracles of the second stage of the Redemption, and what we all want…

“No longer shall thy Teacher hide Himself…but thine eyes shall see thy teacher.” (Tanya). And as the Rebbe Melech HaMoshiach says, this is the main prophecy of the Redemption (Vayera 5752), and this is Hashem revealing himself to us in utmost completion.

“And immediately in our time Moshiach will come and he will redeem his first son the Jews from the Yidden and AZ we shall sing before him a new song, ‘Hinei Elokenu Zeh” (Igores Kodesh, Volume 15, p. 321).

A freilichen Purim!

P.S. Since the whole world will be filled with the knowledge of G-d in the Redemption, the Rebbe Melech HaMoshiach has asked that we publicize the Seven Noahide Laws to the nations. Enclosed is a 7 Laws brochure. Please give it to someone.

Hang the traitors.

By the grace of G-d
Dear friends!
In honor of the upcoming holiday of Purim let's all contribute money to donate gallows 50 amah high (see Esther 7:9):

to the State of Israel to try and hang the dirty traitors who are endangering our people in the Holy Land
and worldwide by cooperating with murderers and bowing down to the pressure of the public opinion instead of defending their citizens from terrorism.

As Rabbi Shalom DovBer Wolpo explains and many others have pointed out in the past this is a violation of the Israeli law banning any aid to the enemies of the Jewish people and the state of Israel. This constitutes treason and is the only crime punishable by death penalty by hanging under Israeli law.
See:

Please donate and, or publicize this appeal widely to increase the awareness of this disgusting betrayal of our brothers and sisters in the holy land of Israel by the post-Zionist gang of corrupt burocrats and politicians still allowed to remain in power doing next to nothing to stop this Holocaust from continuing.

We cannot simply sit back ignoring the cry of our brothers and sisters to do somethign waiting for more Devine retribution after the fact:

We must stop this nonsense. We cannot allow these traitors continue giving away parts of Erretz Yisrael to terrorists who enjoy singing about the "flesh of the Jews being carried away in black bags":

Small print:

If the State of Israel doesn't accept our money for the gallows it will be spent for the benefit of the residents of Sderot and other areas attacked by terrorists to help them protect themselves.

The Disgrace of Betrayal

B"H
The Disgrace of Betrayal

By Yehoshua S. Hecht

Norwalk, CT USA

The great Rebbe of Kotzk was known to say that the prohibition of not deceiving others applies to oneself too. He said “Only a fool attempts to dupe another and of even greater silliness is when the fool deceives himself?

This introduction comes to mind to the visceral reaction I had after reading not once but twice the ”Opinion” which appeared in the Chabad Hebrew language website called “Shturem”.

The article was presented under the banner headline “There is no Pikuach Nefesh (saving of life) in the obligation of protest” which was penned by an official from Chabad serving in Maryland, USA.

The writer opines that as an emissary of Chabad he had nothing to say publicly about the Annapolis meeting convened last month which was attended by Abu Abbas, President of the terrorist PLO and Prime Minister Olmert of Israel which was convened by Secretary of State Condi Rice to set the stage for more territorial concessions by the state of Israel and to push for parts of Jerusalem to be given away to the PLO and its supporters.

The writer in “Shturm” informs us that the Rebbe no longer wants us to be involved in Mihu Yehudi – the Who is a Jew controversy by (“miss”) quoting a talk of the Rebbe and then informs us that his perspective is informed by events of over thirty years ago when he was a part of those who worked on Mihu Yehudi etc.

The upshot of his article is that Chabad as official Chabad should not be involved in any of these issues and certainly at present not be involved in any official protests against giving over parts of Israel to the enemy.

It is plainly astounding that the writer who is an intelligent and articulate individual should allow himself to digress with such equanimity and smoothness of a political operative to so deftly identify darkness as light and bitterness as sweet.

In short, he has performed a 180 degree turn away from the clearly stated and unambiguous talks (by the hundreds) of our Rebbe concerning Mihu Yehudi and certainly Pikuach Nefesh and Shelemus Haaretz.

His giving over responsibility of these important issues into the hands of others (rabbis) is most certainly a cop-out of the most grievous sort.

In my humble opinion any person possessing integrity honesty and loyalty to his Rebbe cannot pen such an awfully misguided opinion piece and disseminate it publicly. If anything it is a sad indication of how far we have fallen from the source of inspiration and guidance bequeathed to us with brilliance, heart and soul from all of our holy Rebbe’s and certainly during the years of 1950 through Gimmel Tamuz and beyond.

As such, I have no recourse but to publicly repudiate and oppose the above misguided opinion that Chabad emissaries are not to speak out publicly on these issues. This is a patently disingenuous opinion that ought to rile up every Chassid who cares about what the Rebbe cares about. Namely, bringing Moshiach Now, protecting Jews and their security in Israel and opposing bogus standards of conversion.

I find it offensive and upsetting that our Rebbe's words and opinions are twisted and contorted in such a disrespectful and disloyal manner and presented as being in the interest of the Rebbe’s legacy.

To take it one step further it is the ultimate rebellion to his authority and legacy to remain silent on the very issues he so poured so much time and energy in to.

Where are the Chassidim of the Rebbe and why is our leadership so quiet and mute when we were encouraged and taught by the Rebbe to speak up and to be activists for “Pikuach Nefesh?”

How many more articles are we to read in “Shturem” of rockets hitting civilians and killing innocents? Since when is a picture of a Chabad emissary helping the victims the only response of what Chabad and every Jew who cares about another Jew is to do.

Where were we when the outrage of the Gush Katif destruction was unfolding before our very eyes?

What happened to Pikuach Nefesh at the world wide conference of shluchim held recently in NY? Why was there no official communiqué on Pikuach Nefesh?

Has the need for access to political or monetary connections corrupted us to the point of not only silence in the face of challenge but active acquiescence too? To quote the words of the Megillah “have you come to subjugate the queen in my own palace”.

When are we going to wake up and begin to use the world -wide influence we have for the purposes intended?

Indeed, every Shliach every Tomim, and every Chassid has not only the prerogative but the holy responsibility to do whatever they can to enhance Pikuach Nefesh.

May the miracle of Purim and the lesson of Mordechai the Jew not bowing down to Haman resonate with us today, in the here and now and very soon indeed merit the complete redemption with the revelation of Moshiach.

לעולם לא עוד (Never Again)

בס״ד
לעולם לא עוד
(Never Again)

Produced by the World Committee for Saving the Jewish People and the Land of Israel (המטה העולמי להצלת העם והארץ), this critical documentary exposes the false promises of the Israeli government to the Jewish residents of Gush Katif to get them to leave their homes.

The tragedy of the expulsion of the Gush Katif Jewish residents and the destruction of their communities reaches many layers of depth, as shown in the film.

The destroyed communities of Gush Katif, in the Gaza Strip, are today under the control of Hamas. No longer under Israeli control, the region has become a nest of extremist Islamic fundamentalism. Rockets are still being shot against Jewish communities within the Green Line, Israel’s border before the 1967 Six Days War.

Yet, not having learned the lessons of history and its upheavals, the Israeli government is yet again about to proceed with the devision of Jerusalem.
May the lessons from the events depicted in this film reach us all in time to turn around the current debacle, and somehow correct the horrors of a government turned against its very own citizens for the sake of enemy, foreign interests. May these horrors be repeated NEVER AGAIN!
