Gush Katif Torah to Stay with Exilees

Rejoicing with the Torah in Neve Dekalim
The Sefer Torah that was written to encourage the residents of Gush Katif, organized by the Committe to Save to Nation and People of Israel has gone into exile with the residents.   Upon the rquest of the Rav Kamenitsy, the Rabbi responsible for the Gush Katif settelments, the Sefer Torah will accompany the people in their temporary dwelling places.  The fact that the Sefer Torah was brought into the Gush when it was closed to outside citizens and that the Hachneses Sefer Torah was made at a time when they really needed encouragement, the settlers are reluctant to part with the Sefer Torah

Shluchim Remain in New Orleans

Shluchim Remain in New Orleans

Today, Hurricane Katrina touched down on New Orleans, causing extreme flooding and devastation.  The residents were warned to evacuate the area, and over a million fled in advance of the hurricane.  However, the Rebbe's shluchim to New Orleans decided to remain, on the premise that a shliach does not leave his post without an explicit directive of the Rebbe. The Shluchim, R. Zelig Rivkin, his son R. Menachem Mendel and R. Yakov Nemes, wrote to the Rebbe via Igrot Kodesh, and received an answer saying: "Tracht Gut vet Zain Gut" - Think good and it will be good."

From this answer, the shluchim understood that they were meant to remain in New Orleans, which they did.  In the end, the storm was considerably weaker than predicted. Although it caused great damage, the shluchim were not harmed. R. Rivkin was interviewed on the Israeli news program Mabat, and caused a Kiddush Hashem by showing the firm stance of a shliach of the Rebbe.  He let the world know that the Rebbe continues to lead the Jewish nation and gives clear directives in day-to-day life.

Shloshim of Ephraim A'H: Video of Shlichus

In the winter 5763, Ephraim Vexler A"H traveled to Goa, India for a special three-week shlichus that included the week of Chanukah.  He joined the family of R. Kobi Mazuz, who went to India to print Tanyas there and spread the light of Chanuka.  A key part of their shlichus, naturally, was spreading the Rebbe's message of redemption.

In honor of the shloshim since Ephraim A"H's passing, Chabad.info presents a video of Ephraim together with Yechiel Kupchik, distributing the freshly printed Tanyas in Goa.  Hundreds of Israeli tourists in India are overjoyed to receive the Tanyas and thank the shluchim over and over for their activities.

Protest, Mourning, Hope

The International Campaign has printed up two new "orange" flags.  One expresses the bitter protest and lament at the expulsion:  "We will not forgive or forget".  The second expresses the hope for the only real solution:  Moshiach ben David.  Ten thousand of each flag have been printed, and will be distributed in the coming weeks.

"Our Shlichus Has Not Ended"

In a special interview with Beis Moshiach, R. Yigal Kirshenzaft, shliach of the Rebbe in Gush Katif says "Our shlichus has not ended."

"No one can take away our spirit.  No one can arrest our holiness or jail our faith.  No roadblocks, mortar shells or rockets can stop our faith, that is now going forth to conquer the land and finally bring Moshiach."

R. Kirshenzaft refers to the first letter that he received from the Rebbe when went on shlichus in 1988:  "The Rebbe told us that our shlichus is to bring Simcha to the people.  At the time I did not realize the prophecy in the Rebbe's words. Now I understand - my shlichus is to uplift the spirits of the people in Gush Katif who have been expelled, and instill faith in them."

Thursday: Protest outside Israel Consulate

חדשות חב"ד

Thursday: Protest outside Israel Consulate

A gathering of protest and pain will be held tomorrow, Thursday, outside the Israeli consulate, to express our sorrow and anguish over Churban Azza, the expulsion of thousands of Jews from their homes and destruction of thriving Jewish communities.  The rally is being held on Chof Av, the yahrtzeit of the Rebbe's father, R. Levi Yitzchak Schneerson.  In a sicha of Chof Av, 5739, the Rebbe referred to the chinuch his father gave him, never to be silent when lives are at stake.  The rally will be held Thursday evening, 20 Menachem Av, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM outside the Israeli Consulate at the corner of 42nd St. and 2nd Ave.

The Rebbe taught us that when it hurts, you scream! The tragedies of this past week are very painful, especially to the Chabad community which consistently showed opposition and resistance to the evil plan which has now been perpetrated. Chabad.info has recorded our actions, from special prayer services, to breaking through barriers.

But now we are in pain and the Rebbe said to cry out. In a Sicha of the 20th of Av, 5739, the Rebbe said, “It is absolutely irrelevant whether the protest will or will not be effective. The reason for crying out is not based on the assumption that it will be effective, but rather because the situation is painful.”

If we do not cry out in public, the world will assume we are complacent, while our brethren are left homeless and without livelihood.

Thursday is the 20th of Av – the day the Rebbe said to cry out – a rally is being held to express our outrage is being held at the Israeli Consulate, 42nd Street and 2nd Avenue, 6:00 – 8:00 pm. The expulsions of this week are only the beginning of what is planned, we need to make sure it is the beginning of the end of such atrocities

After a Fire, You Become Rich

After a Fire, You Become Rich

Inside Sanur Yeshiva - More pics in full article.
Following the horrible destruction and devastation of thriving Jewish settlements in Gush Katif and N. Shomron, we can only publicize a letter of the Tzemach Tzedek, printed in Derech Mitzvosecha:

To our dear friends... I hereby comfort them with somethingcopied from the writings of my grandfather (the Alter Rebbe), something he wrote to a member of Anash:
I heard from the holy ones, a common expression, that after a fire one becomes rich.  Being that the order of descent of the holy attributes is Chesed, Din and Rachamim, and we are now after Din, the attribute of Rachamim (mercy) is now aroused, which is even greater than the initial Chesed.  It is known that Rachamim is the attribute of Yakov and it is without limitations and runs through from one end to the other."  This is his golden language.  Therefore, he directed that person to strengthen himself and rebuild his home in its place.  We can apply his holy words to your situation, that each person should encourage his friends to rebuild their homes in the same place, as it is known that the merit of the many is greater than the merit of the individual, to arouse great mercy, to support them and lift their horn.  Therefore, be strong, and help one another, and Hashem who gives us strength will bless you with everything good ! in whatever you will do."

To the residents of Gush Katif:  You are heroes!  Be strong and continue to build, until we merit the immediate revelation of Moshiach.  You have a tremendous blessing in your hands now and the future of our nation rests in  your hands.
