(IsraelNN.com) Russia's Chief Rabbi Berel Lazar has sharply criticized Israel's implementation of the Disengagement Plan.
"The problem of the deportation of Jews and transfer of their lands and property to Palestinians has reached such a nerve-strain that our people have been put on the brink of division. But the Talmud says directly that both the Temples fell because of a quarrel, because of a division!" Lazar told the Interfax news agency.
Lazar added that politicians have been dishonest, since Israel was given to the Jews by G-d, and no one who believes in the one L-rd has the right to cancel His will. He also criticized the politicians who tried to persuade the Israelis that one-sided concessions to the Palestinians, such as transfer the settlement territories to them, the release of terrorists from prisons and the green light given to the arming of their paramilitary units - all this would contribute to ! a greater security for the Jews.
