Alma Ata: Kosher Meat for Yom Tov

The assistant chief rabbi of Kazakhstan, the shochet R. Elchonon Cohen, shechted a large quantity of chickens and beef for the upcoming holidays. The chickens are for the local community as well as the Gershuni-Ohr Avner school, which ordered 300 kilo of chickens from the Beis Menachem Jewish center, lead by Kazakhstan chief rabbi Yishaya Elazar Cohen.

R. Cohen shechted two tons of chicken, two tons of beef and 700 kilo of lamb.  The beef and chickens will be kashered before Yom Tov.  R. Yeshaya Cohen reports that "Despite the great demand for Kosher meat in the communities of Alma Ata, Paweldor and Astana, the shluchim also make an effort to provide meat to other Jewish organizations such as Ohr Avner, the Joint, etc."
