Three hundred Jewish children in Mariyopal, Ukraine will be warm this winter, thanks to the efforts of the local shliach, R. Menachem Mendel Cohen. With the help of the Rav of the area, R. Pinchas Veshedsky, warm winter coats and jackets were distributed on Sunday to needy children.
"Winters in Ukraine are bitterly cold," explained the shliach, R. Cohen, "and I couldn't bear the thought that children should freeze in this weather without proper clothing." In addition to the clothing drive, the shluchim also opened a soup kitchen serving hot meals daily, and a gemach fund for purchasing medicine and other necessities.
