| | Campaign to Locate Jews Hidden in Shoah | | |
60 year after the end of World War II, the Yad L'Achim organization has begun working on identifying over 2,000 Jews who were hidden as children in convents and monestaries and with Christian families across Europe. According to information received by the organization, after the war the church refused to allow baptized children to be returned to the Jewish community, even in cases where the parents demanded them back.
The church also did not allow any information about these children, such as names or addresses, to be released to Jewish organizations who sought to locate them. Therefore, only a small number of Jewish children were returned to their families. Yad L'Achim has set up a base in Holland, where over 1,000 of these "hidden children", now well into old age, are believed to be found. They are also making efforts to locate hidden Jews in France, Belgium and Italy. A team of investigators, detectives, psychologists and lawyers is assisting Yad L'Achim in its search.

Yesterday, a sixth volume of Igros Kodesh in English was released by Otzar Sifrei Lubavitch. All the previously published volumes of the Rebbe's letters are very popular in the English speaking community, as they allow many people to be exposed to the Rebbe's views on a wide range of issues, from science and technology, to health, family and relationships, and philosophy.

Rabbi Moshe Levertov passed away today, Friday, at the age of 76, after a long illness. Rabbi Levertov was an eltere chossid who was educated in underground yeshivos in Russia. When R. Levertov reached American shores, he was sent by the Rebbe on shlichus to Pittsburgh where he lived for a number of years. After moving back to Crown Heights, he was a member of the Ezras Achim organization and worked tirelessly for the benefit of Soviet Jewry. He was a great Talmid Chochom and in his later years delivered a shiur in Kollel Tiferes Zekeinim in Crown Heights.
His levaya, which will be held on Sunday, will leave at 10AM from Shomrei Hadas chapel and will pass 770 at approximately 10:30 AM. R. Levertov leaves behind his wife, children and grandchildren who serve as shluchim of the Rebbe around the world.
