| Open House for Moscow Jewish Community | | | Moscow Jewish Community Center hosted an open house event, which lasted all day until late evening on September 11th, allowing guests to learn about and sign up for the wide-ranging and numerous programs and activities run by the Jewish community of Moscow. Without exception, all of these programs, as well as the others available through the Moscow JCC, are offered free-of charge to community members. A festive opening ceremony featured a childrens carnival. All halls and rooms of the JCC were decorated with balloons, while pleasant music sounded in the background. Leaders of the various clubs, groups and courses run by the JCC spoke about their activities and provided information to guests. The 'Beit Chabad', 'Beit Talmud', Achdut Sunday Schools Network, 'Chesed Avraham' charity organization, the 'Rambam' Medical Center, and the Kashrut Department held presentations on the first floor of the JCC. Visitors to the second floor got acquainted with Jewish educational projects, including the 'Mesivta' Boys School, the 'Machon Chamesh' University, the Institute of the 21st Century, the 'Achei Tmimim' School, and the 'Knizhniy Mir' Book Store. Guests also took this occasion to visit the Jewish library, art gallery, Internet-Café and gymnasium, which hosted booths on various sports activities. Head of JCCs cultural programs Grigory Kantor led an event involving renowned journalist and writer Lev Novozhenov. The award-winning documentary film 'Yevreyskoye Schastye' was also shown in the Amphitheater, followed by a humorous childrens program. Kids also had tons of fun at shows, quizzes led by cartoon characters, and fun contests. The open house also drew attention to opportunities at the JCC to study foreign languages Hebrew, French, German and Italian languages, in addition to computer courses and music lessons (piano, violin, guitar, and solfeggio). Many programs for children were also presented in Childrens Academy booth. Community members also signed up to partake in several unique programs, such as 'the Art of Diplomacy', 'Studio, Image and Stylistics', the 'Amateur Jewish Historians' Club', where people can learn about their roots, as well as the 'School of Psychological Training', which aims to help Jewish children and adults to overcome problems of communication and social interaction. The concluding concert of this event featured actors from the musicals 'Notre Dame de Paris' and 'Romeo and Juliet', as well as the 'Chassidic Capella' Choir.
